My duties in the game involved:
· Game director: directed a team of 5 people towards a unified vision of the game.
· Game design: After doing a market study of hyper-casual games, I leaned towards a rollercoaster-style simple game that would make the player feel excited but without forcing him to learn convoluted systems: less “game” but more “feel”.
· Game progress & monetisation: To progress in the game, I helped design an economy system inspired by clicker games that would reward the player in each level played.
· Adaptive difficulty: To allow anyone to enjoy the game, regardless of their skill level, I designed a system that dynamically changes levels’ difficulty according to player’s performance in the last levels.
· Random level generator: I designed and coded the maths behind the random level generator and the boost placement along the level. It was important to make a varied experience: even though the game is simple and repetitive, levels should be exciting, varied and have a general consistency (difficulty, length).
